"The Eyes Are The"

"The Eyes Are The" was the first time that I had expressed my emotions through my art. Not long before I created this series of images, my parents decided it was time for a new life and so they began on their adventure. They chose France as their new home and as such, the place I had called home my entire life was no longer a home for me. To come to terms with this I began to work with these emotions instead of resisting them, and channeled them in the best way I knew how... printmaking. Each image depicts a significant view from around my hometown, framed through the eyes of specific windows in my home. I could not be more proud of this series and to this day I still find joy in looking through the windows that were.

The first image, "Allotment" depicts the view of our summer allotment, from which we spent many happy sunny days playing with our dogs and watering the veggies, it is shown in the frame of the barn window from which I spent my lockdown screen printing. The second image, "Ridings" is the place we would walk the dogs two or three times a day, somehow the view never got boring. It is shown in the frame of our extension roof window, from which I would spend many hours gazing out at the clouds to get away from my work. The third and final image, "Moores farm" is where I spent my last few weeks in my hometown rollerskating. It was the only flat path in the village and had incredible all around views of the countryside, flanked on either side by a row of trees and benches. The frame chosen for this image is our attic window, where I would spend my childhood with my brother taking apart lego kits to create our own, weird and wacky scenes (listening to Green Day on repeat obviously).
